Visitors are able to tour the facilities free of charge by contacting the hatchery in advance. An on-site showpond features large ranbow trout, golden rainbows, sturgeon and tiger muskies. There are fishing opportunities on the 880 acres of property surrounding the hatchery.

This facility raises chinook salmon for the Clearwater River basin. Self-guided tour are offered of the facilities year-round, with open houses and other educational events through the season. The Mill Pond Trail surrounds the area, and is a location for wilderness walks and nature sighting.

Opened in 1925, the Mackay State Fish Hatchery is one of Idaho's oldest hatcheries. The pond below the hatchery is a popular location for fishing. Tours can be arranged by contacting the hatchery.

Mary Janes Farm makes a variety of organic foods that are quick to prepare, as well as kitchen tools and stitching kits. A tour of the farm gives visitors a chance to see the historic mill and schoolhouse, the gardens, the chicken coop and the greenhouse.

American Falls State Fish Hatchery
The American Falls State Fish Hatchery welcomes visitors to observe the life cycle of rainbow trout from eggs to maturity. Birdwatching on the two mile nature trail near the hatchery is a popular activity.
